What is a single leg takedown?

The single leg takedown attacks one of your opponent's legs rather than both. Shoot in, wrap one leg with both arms, and use various finishes: run the pipe (drive forward), trip their base leg, or lift and dump them. Single legs are lower commitment than double legs because you can bail more easily if they sprawl. They work well when opponents stand with staggered feet. In BJJ, single legs often lead to guard passing situations or leg lock entries. Key principle: control the leg tightly to your chest and keep moving - a stalling single leg gets defended. Chain single legs with doubles when they defend.
