What is a reverse de la Riva guard?
Reverse de la Riva (RDLR) hooks your leg inside your opponent's near leg from the opposite side of standard de la Riva. Your hook is on the same side as the leg that is forward. RDLR creates strong off-balancing and leads to sweeps, back takes, and leg lock entries. It is particularly effective against standing opponents and works in both gi and no-gi. RDLR is a key position in modern guard games.
