What is an inverted guard?

Inverted guard positions you upside down with your hips elevated and legs toward your opponent - like an upside-down turtle. It is used to create angles, attack leg locks, recover guard, and set up berimbolos. Playing inverted is controversial: some see it as essential modern BJJ, others view it as unnecessarily risky for neck injuries. Inverted guard requires good flexibility, neck strength, and spatial awareness. Do not force inverted positions without proper preparation.
