What is a Von Flue choke?
The Von Flue choke is a shoulder choke that punishes opponents who hold a guillotine too long when you pass to side control. Named after UFC fighter Jason Von Flue who made it famous, you apply it by passing to side control while they maintain a guillotine grip, then driving your shoulder into their neck while sprawling your weight down. Their own guillotine grip traps them in place while your shoulder pressure cuts off blood flow. The key is to keep heavy pressure, grab their far hip, and be patient - it takes a few seconds for them to go out. This choke turns their attack into your submission and teaches opponents to release guillotines when you pass.
