What is shark tank or gauntlet training?
Shark tank (also called gauntlet or iron man) is an intense BJJ training drill where one person stays in the middle and rolls continuously while fresh opponents rotate in every 2-3 minutes. The person in the middle gets zero rest while facing increasingly fresh opponents - it is brutal cardio and mental toughness training. Shark tanks are typically used for competition preparation, testing students before belt promotions, or as a special challenge. Expect to be completely exhausted - most people tap from fatigue, not submissions. Some gyms run shark tanks for 20-30 minutes with 8-10 fresh opponents. It teaches you to pace yourself and keep fighting when your body wants to quit.
